A carved egg cup made not of wood but from a corozo nut which was worked when fresh and then hardened off. It is a dark chocolate brown in colour and the finished article is hard to distinguish from wood. A popular medium for all sorts of novelties in the mid 19th century along with items made from the paler tagua nut.
