A slightly faded, dark brown / black velvet bag edged with black silk and extensively decorated with coloured beads. The beads outlining the central designs are a mix of white and clear. The fringe is beaded in white. The body and flaps are in clear, white, red, pink, turquoise, blue, mustard yellow and gold with some beads having a metallic sheen. c1890
The flaps on either side are purely decorative as the bag opens at the top. It is finished with a dark brown ribbon handle. It is lined with a brown, waxy looking cloth.
It resembles images online of Native American Iroquois bags so it may have been brought back as a souvenir?
