An egg shaped pomander / vinaigrette. French c 1850. The case is carved out of a nut, decorated and pierced. It unscrews in the middle and is of a type classed as vegetable ivory but which has no actual ivory in it.
There is a natural flaw showing as a black mark but this isn't damage and is on the surface only ( see last photo ).
