A tape measure dating to circa 1800-1815 carved from domestic animal bone -probably mutton. The brown printed silk tape inside is the original and starts at 1. It also has it's end stop.

Height 2.5cm
Diameter of top is just under 2.5cm
NB. It is obviously bone having the black flecking which is indicative.
Condition-There is an expansion crack where the tape pulls out. (see last photo) but otherwise no damage.
