The handle is carved horn with engraved sterling silver mounts and is set with a foiled and faceted orange coloured citrine. The applied silver decoration is engraved with thistles and Celtic knots. The back is plain and the steel blade is covered by a black leather sheath.
The handle is also decorated with a silver lion rampant- the symbol of Scotland.
