An early, seven faceted silver 'pencil holder' -a porte-crayon. It has a long barrel with a slider which would have held a wad of graphite originally but now would take a narrow lead pencil.
The unusual feature is a perpetual calendar. A rotating collar with the numbers 1-31 aligns with one below engraved with the first letters of the days of the week. The terminal is a waffle pattern seal. c1820.
9cm long.
In very good condition-no damage.
NB. It is unmarked silver.
