An unusual tooled green leather box containing a set of engraved and gilt steel writing tools- pen, seal and letter opener plus a pair of ink wells. The case is in the form of a miniature writing box. French c 1840
Inside it is lined in cream velvet and silk; the tools sitting in recesses. The dip pen has a quill nib and a Bramah style mount to retain it. The steel is engraved with birds and foliage and partially gilt. The two ink bottles have decorative gilt metal lids. There are three lids one at the back for wafers and two smaller ones which would have contained spare nibs.
It is in excellent condition- no damage but please note the square of leather covering each hinge reinforcing them.
The box measures 18 cm x 10.5 cm ( 7 x 4 inches )
