An old dip pen with gilt metal mounts and a handle made of a dense black stone-possibly onyx? It's cold to the touch and doesn't warm up quickly so it's not glass. The mounts are made of gilt metal with a cross hatched pattern as a seal rather than an intaglio. The nib is stamped 'William Mitchell's Selected'. c1840
15cm long including the nib.
