A rectangular brass letter scale with incurve sides and shaped on the reverse to look like the back of an envelope. The back opens and there is just enough space for a stamp. Reg design no. 102604 from 1888 by James Allen Birmingham.
The scale weighed letters from 1 to 6 ounces priced at 1d to 2 1/2d and has a sprung clip to hold them.
In excellent condition- working. and with no dents or other damage.
