An interesting carved wooden snuff box. It is light in weight and is made entirely of wood including the handmade hinge. The lid is carved with a blacksmith and assistant at work over an anvil. They appear to be breaking up a sword rather than mending it- possibly a reference to the Gisla Saga.
It is naively done with a medieval feel to it and resembles similar boxes which are identified as 19th century Norwegian.
There is no damage.
