A rare mother of pearl folding fruit knife with shibayama decoration in the form of inlaid hardstone insects.

 The pearl is in perfect condition and the decoration intact but there is scratching to the blade and its tip does protrude from the the pearl cover when closed as a result of wear to the hinge through use. The silver spring cover has a stepped and cross hatched design.

Hall marked in Sheffield in 1906 by TM -Thomas Marples.
