A Tartan Ware needle case decorated in a tartan patterned paper titled Prince Charles in gold on black and then varnished. The spine is leather and there's a red and cream cord which closes over the case to keep it shut which would have been slightly elasticated originally. c1860

It is in very good condition with just age-related wear- a few surface marks in the varnish including a shallow vertical line on both sides where the cord has rubbed the varnish over the years. The inside is lined in a patterned paper and toning silk.
