A fine tartan ware card case with a painted view of Coilsfield ,South Ayrshire referred to by Robert Burns as the Castle of Mongomery. The image is taken from a known print of the later house circa 1840.
The green, black and yellow tartan design is untitled.
The lid hinges at the top and has a thin strip of green velvet applied to the back. The hinge itself is wooden.
In excellent condition- one small blemish on the back showing as a black mark.
