A charming Regency silk picture of a blonde-haired girl cuddling a lamb.
The girl wears a yellow and blue costume with pink shoes. It is embroidered in long stitch and the collar is a real bit of lace. The trees and the cottage are also embroidered- the only cream silk showing is the background and the girl's hands and face.
The type of embroidery of the lamb's fleece raises it from the background as with the trees in the left-hand corner. The girl's features are well painted- professionally done I should say. c 1830
It is in very good condition with no damage at all.
*There is the remains of an old label under the later brown paper backing indicating it was framed in York. This looks like the original label and should be retained if possible.
