A pair of opera glasses in their original leather carrying case. They barrels are made of patinated pewter coloured metal; the working parts of brass and silver plate. They are decorated in an Egyptian theme - a sphinx, hieroglyphics and a winged scarab beetle. They are in working order and in excellent condition having been protected by the velvet lined case.
No maker's details but dating to the craze for all things Egyptian following the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1924.
The binoculars / opera glasses measure 4 x 2.75 inches ( 10.5 x 7 cm ) out of the case and closed.
