A wooden pot with transfer prints of Folkestone and a floral border. It was made to contain a roll of tape which was drawn through the slot in the side. Similar boxes I've had in the past have had labels under the lid referring to 'Medlock Rolled Tape' and date to circa 1860.
The scene on the lid is of 'Folkestone Looking East' and on the side 'Folkestone from the Pier Head'. In addition to the transfer prints there is a red and green floral band surrounding the scene on the lid.
In excellent condition- no damage.
