A novelty wooden nutcracker in the form of a grotesque man. The method of cracking a nut is a simple one just by turning the screw threaded handle against a nut placed in the aperture.
It is inscribed 'Mer de Glace' which is a valley glacier in the Chamonix valley in France. c1880
