An early Tunbridge Ware pot with a mottled finish resembling tortoiseshell. The lid is fitted with a pin cushion and the side has a print showing Brighton's sea front and Brighton Chain Pier (so titled).
It unscrews revealing space for needles, pins etc. and would have sat on a lady's sewing table.
The base has a handwritten inscription- Miss Jane Body? 22nd July 1850.
This date may be the presentation date as this style of work is earlier- circa 1830.
8.5 cm high
base diameter 5cm
In excellent condition- no damage and only light wear to the velvet pin cushion.
