A pressed metal box in the shape of Shakespeare's House in Stratford on Avon. It is one of a group of novelty needle packet boxes produced by William Avery of Redditch in the 19th century. This design was registered in 1873.
The lid hinges back to reveal space for the packets and the maker's information is stamped on the base.

In very good condition retaining most of the original gilding to the pressed brass.
