An unusual inscribed bone lace bobbin posing the question 'Who was Christ' which is inscribed horizontally. It has the original glass beads on the spangle including square cuts. Mid 19th century.
There is a fine, dirt filled hairline running along the bobbin as seen in the photographs but this is closed and quite stable.
12.5cm long.
NB. Lace bobbin making was a cottage industry using domestic animal bone and local soft woods-never ivory.
