A pair of Georgian spectacles with oval green lenses in a tortoiseshell frame. c1800
The arms are short as the glasses were held at the temple- an easier fit when worn with a full powdered wig. The colour was because both green and blue lenses were thought to have health benefits.
There is no damage. The roughness felt at the back of the arms was deliberate to make for a better grip.
