A good looking red leather case or 'Lady's Companion' decorated with gold tooling and fitted with silver sewing tools. English c1840.
The interior has a notelet made of waxed card at the back and a leather tool pad containing silver handled scissors, a silver bodkin and a silver handled stiletto. The leather unfolds to reveal a cloth for loose needles and sections to take lengths of thread.
In front there is a fitted red velvet pin cushion on the right and a thimble block fixed on top of a removable box on the left. The space between has a folding quill knife / seam cutter and a silver pencil. The silver thimble is an attractive one with wriggle work decoration on a frosted ground.

In excellent condition with no damage to the case or tools- just a few scuff marks to the leather which is to be expected.
NB. There are no hall marks which is typical of small pieces of silver at this date.
