The covers are engraved and the front is set with a gilded enamel pansy which was used on items bought at the Palais Royal shops in Paris. c1800-1820.
There is a chip on the back on a corner but it is very small (see photos). The spine and ribbon ties are silk and the originals albeit somewhat grubby. Otherwise it is in good condition.
