An interesting Georgian Tunbridge Ware box with a varnished print of the' Royal Mews' Brighton which were the stables and attached buildings housing the coaches etc.
The label inside reads 'The Royal Mews Brighton Publish'd at Wises Manufactory Tunbridge Town'.

It has a domed top and various line inlays. The print is edged with a black on gold design.

Inside it is lined in the original yellow paper which just happens to be watermarked- Ansell 1812-which dates the box precisely!

There is a slight 'smile' to the left of the lock (3mm gap) as can be seen in the photos which can usually be reduced by loosening the opposite hinge but I've been unable to shift the screws. There is no sign that it ever had any internal divisions. A few ancient worm holes have been treated just in case! There are a few scuffs but nothing horrible.
