A pair of late 18th century knee buckles c1795. The oblong silver frames are set with clear pastes and there's a decorated gold inner liner to each. Unmarked.
4 x 3cm
In very good condition.
There's no damage to the silver frames and the pastes are good quality with only minor chipping to the edge of a couple of the pastes and no scratching to the surface. There's also a nice play of rainbow colours in the stones.
The prongs and central bars are silver plated over copper. They have a shallow rise in the centre suggesting that they are knee / breeches buckles rather than shoe buckles which would also explain the excellent condition of the pastes.
Stock no. LP05.
