A silver pencil holder coupled with a perpetual calendar c1800. The pencil would originally have held a wad of thick lead but will take a modern pencil in its ring slider. The calendar works by turning the top section to align with the correct day of the week. (it's very stiff but does move).
The seal is a waffle pattern attached to a cap which removes to reveal two small compartments.
