A novelty silver pencil in the form of a truncheon. The silver is stamped 'Sterling Silver' and 'London Made' and there is a gift inscription from Sir Charles Wakefield 16.6.26.

  • Sir Charles Wakefield was a business man who founded the Castrol oil company and was a benefactor of a number of charities. He was also interested in sport- aeroplanes in particular and sponsored flights to Australia and back; the first by Cobham in October 1926 and later by Amy Johnson in 1930 using Castrol fuels.

The propelling pin works by twisting the top section. There is also a suspension ring.
NB. This example isn't telescopic.
