A Tartan Ware sewing etui with steel mounts and chain handle. The pattern of the tartan is Clan Stuart which is so named on a small label in the usual gold writing on black. The steel clasp is stamped 'Depose' meaning Patent.
Inside it is lined in blue and has loops of fabric holding a silver thimble, two pearl handled tools- a crochet hook and a stiletto-and also a decorative base metal needle case.
