A pearl folding knife and its matching fork with silver assay marks only. The pearl is capped at both ends and they have an engraved blank cartouche which would have been meant for the original owner's initials. The diagonal pattern on the silver spring covers date them to the late 18th century c1790.
Condition.
The spring action is good on both and the pearl undamaged. There is slight wear to the silver spring cover at the hinge on the knife.
NB. The wear through the silver rivet cover of the knife looks like the positioning of a second rivet to reinforce it- see photos.
Both the knife and the fork measure 7.5cm closed and 13cm open.
