A large hand made ball pin cushion which could be mistaken for a Christmas tree decoration at first glance! It is however stuck with early pins and is made up of blue and red silk panels over card in a polygon shape and further decorated with gilt 'tinsel like' thread. It has a long piece of blue silk ribbon and a silk tassel.
The silk is typical of that found in workbox trays circa 1840-1860.
The ball is 7cm in diameter and quite substantially made- not flimsy.
In excellent condition- no damage.
