A pair of good quality sewing accessories which would have been in a Victorian sewing box along with a set of matching cotton reel holders. c1850
One is an emery cushion stuffed with fabric which can be accessed through the circular, red velvet covered holes in the side. The other is a thread waxer (with its original untouched wax) used to strengthen the thread before mercerization was introduced and to aid in threading the very fine needles used.
NB. Both have domestic animal bone bases with one showing more of the obvious flecking indicative of bone.
