A punched card case in book form with embroidery, painting and bead work. c1820
The edge is stitched in green with groups of tiny silver beads then two bands of further stitched decoration in red and green before the central painted panel of flowers. The back is the same but with a different floral painting.
Inside it is not a needle book as would be expected but has been fitted with a black sheet- the original sticking plaster! It is lined in a very pretty strawberry coloured patterned silk and has silver threads to hold the sheet of plaster. There would almost certainly have been another sheet in pink at one time.
A rare survivor in excellent condition with pink silk ribbon ties.
