A tortoiseshell knotting shuttle with silver inlaid ribbon swags. The inlay is in good condition with no losses and the shell free from damage. English c 1820.
It is a knotting shuttle rather than a tatting shuttle, despite its size, having rounded ends set wide apart. There is a small hole in the central block which anchors the thread.
