A gorgeous two tone mother of pearl plaque. It is probably taken from a classical story which I don't recognise but depicts a lady, an anchor, a fish and a pair of winged cherubs. It is cleverly carved to retain the purple colour at the top using the white part of the shell as the background. 19th century.
It is small 6 x 1.5 cm and slightly convex but perfect for making into a brooch.
