A French snuff box with the design made by heat pressing the wood. The scene on the lid is of a room with a lady on a couch playing a lyre. The inscription below reads- (A)pres de vous on les ouplie. ( Google translates this to 'After You We Forget Them' ) There is also some more writing above the clock where the last to words are Les Heures (possibly counting the hours?)
The base is also heat pressed with geometric designs.

The piece is in good condition- in the round and with good definition to the pattern. The base does have a fine hairline running from one edge to near the centre but it is a fine one and closed. ( see third photo )
