A rare Georgian boxwood tape measure with a domed mutton bone top and base. c 1800-1820
The original silk ribbon was shredded so has been replaced with pink silk ribbon which has been ink stamped in inches. The end stop is from another early tape.
The case itself is in excellent order. It would have been part of a fitted workbox with a set of wooden boxwood or mutton bone barrels.

NB. The black flecking indicative of bone can be seen quite clearly.
