A sturdy steel bladed tool for lifting the sealing wax from a sealed letter. The handle is horn-probably cow or deer.
It is in good condition- very small splits at the edge of the handle where it meets the steel (see photos). The steel is patinated ie. not badly rusty but with signs of deterioration caused by age.
