A multi-section reel / spool from a Georgian 'Painted Tunbridge Ware' workbox. It would have fitted across the tray and fixed into holes in the side panels-useful if you have the gap in your box!
Total measurement 17.5cm across including the pin in the end.
Just under 2cm in diameter.
Condition- one disc has damage with only half of it left but it could be rotated to hide this flaw once fitted in a box. Also minor chipping to the end discs but the panted ring decoration shows no wear.
NB. The discs are fixed and the whole reel is turned out of a single piece of wood. The painted decoration is symmetric.
