A well made folding penknife partially stamped with the name Leuch(ars) a London maker and retailer of fine boxes so it is likely the knife was in one. The pearl is engraved with horizontal lines and has a blank silver nameplate. The end is shaped like a shell and it has a silver spring cover in a stepped and crosshatched design just the same as on folding fruit knives of the period. English c1850.
8.5cm long closed
In very good condition-the spring action is still strong and the pearl undamaged. The blade might be shortened by just under half a centimeter as it doesn't quite fill the space (see last photo).
