A pretty miniature basket of embossed and pierced silver fitted with an emery cushion. The rope twist handle will stay upright on its own for display.
The pale blue silk looks to be the original although it has never been stuck with a needle.
Originally it would have been part of a fitted set of silver sewing tools quite often housed in a red leather box.
The silver is unmarked as is usual for light weight pieces of English silver of this date, but probably made by Birmingham silversmith Joseph Taylor or Samuel Pemberton and dating to circa 1830.
