A large silver buckle in two parts with three silver studs either side. The silver is engraved with a single flower head and engraved lines form a border. The silver lion assay mark is present on both pieces as are the maker's initials which are BP (unknown).
There are also large incised initials on the back of the buckle -N on one and R on the other in the Roman Block style which would suggest a mid 18th century date for the buckle.
Condition- there are no splits or wear but there are signs that the studs have been reinforced over time. There are drips of silver solder on the surface of the buckle by one stud and on another the 'stem' of the stud is much fatter than on the others.
Each half measures 4.5 x 3.5 cm.
Fitted together on the last slot it measures 6cm in length.
