An engraved pearl needle case in the form of a book. The front is decorated with a spray of flowers within a crosshatched border.
The back is plain pearl and the 'spine' maroon silk ribbon. Inside there are two sheets of cloth for loose needles and maroon ribbon ties.
The piece is in excellent condition with no damage. It was really dirty so it has been dismantled, washed and put back together using the original fabrics but the ribbon ties had all but disintegrated so have been replaced with new matching maroon ribbon.
