Two clay pipe tampers commemorating King Charles 1 and King Charles II.

The face of King Charles I is coloured red ( a reference to his beheading in 1649 ), the hair is silvery and the robe purple. The lower section is glazed. On the back, at the base of the head, are the letters C R 1
5.5cm high

The second tamper depicts King Charles II with just the base glazed in blue. This one has CR II on the back.
6cm high

Both are in very good condition with no damage.
They were probably both made at the same time to commemorate two hundred years after the execution in 1849.
