A tortoiseshell case containing a set of gilded silver sewing tools. Each piece has the French petit guarantee mark of a boar's head denoting sterling silver. c 1870.
The oval case has gilded mounts- the hinges are stamped Brevete SGDG referring to the patent design. It has a pencil, a thimble, a pair of scissors, a bodkin, a needle case and a tambour hook.
The case is in excellent order.
There are minor faults on two of the fittings. The bodkin has lost a little of the end which would have been rounded and the tambour has just a steel screw to retain the hook rather than a gilt wing nut.
