A thread waxer from a fitted sewing box which would have had matching reels, tape and emery. The carved pearl top unscrews from the bone base to allow for the wax to be replaced. c 1840-1860
In excellent condition bar a small chip on the end of the spindle where it screws into the base (see last photo)
