A London made silver stock buckle by Benjamin Mountigue (Stamped BM with pellet between which dates it to 1773-1784)
Stock buckles ( the silver studs are indicative) were worn at the back of the neck, tightly holding in place the white scarf / stock, worn by fashionable men from the 1720s through to the end of the 18th century.
