A silver needle case from a French sewing box dating to the early 19th century. The silver is marked with a French silver mark- a hare's head which dates it to 1819-1838.

The silver is of a very thin gauge and is easy to dent but equally easy to reshape. However, taking the lid off puts the dents in again merely through finger pressure. This light gauge of silver is typical of early French sets particularly silver fitted Palais Royal.

7.5 cm long
1.5 cm across at the top where it's at its widest.
