The black leather case containing the three pairs of scissors is tooled in gold with the young Queen Victoria's head and the date 1837. Inside the lid is the old Victoria head and the date 1897 and so it celebrates her Diamond Jubilee.

The scissors are by Joseph Rodgers of Sheffield who was a well regarded steel manufacturer  / cutler and are a set. They show wear but are undamaged. The case is also stamped Boots Fancy Dept.

The case is in good order but the leather hinge, although still in one piece, won't take any rough handling. The strip of leather that holds the lid down is fine.

The case is 15 cm long x 5 cm at the top.  ( 6 x 2 inches ) The scissors inside are graded in size.
