A good quality, red leather etui with coloured prints of young women in the style of George Baxter. c1860
The top of the case is tooled in gold with a bird bath and even the base is covered with tooled leather. Inside it is sub-divided to take various fittings and has a removable compartment topped with a velvet thimble block.
The leather folder is fitted with a cloth for loose needles and loops on the outside to take the silver scissors, stiletto and bodkin. There are two further narrow slots. One has a note slide but the other, which would have had a mirror, is empty.
The other tools are a silver thimble, a silver pencil and a silver quill / seam knife. There are no hall marks on the pieces as they are too early. The final small compartment has a mini cotton reel.
The case is in excellent condition as are the fittings.
