A small pearl letter seal from a Palais Royal workbox. The seal end is uncut silver and has the silver petit guarantee 'fasces' mark for Parisian silver. The pearl is set with a silver shield-one of the decorative motifs used on French pieces of the period. c1800.

Fasces mark- Used during the Revolution and is a bundle of sticks with an axe head protruding from the middle making it pre-1809.
